Lifting equipment manufacturer Demag has launched a new series of electric chain hoists. The DCBS model has a compact design and intelligent control system, making the material handling and assembly process simpler and safer.

DCBS is a variable speed chain hoist, based on the company's proven DCS series, combined with Demag D-Grip servo control handles. The model can provide 125 or 160 kg SWL.

The DCBS chain hoist benefits from the integrated balancer function, which has been adopted from the Demag D-BE electric balancer. It can boot the load without starting the controller. The operator only needs to use the least effort to move the load to the required height, and can use both hands to position it more accurately. 

Depending on the operator's choice or the choice of automatic control mode, the DCBS device switches between "grip control" and "load control" operating modes, and high-performance sensors facilitate intuitive load control. The manual force exerted by the operator is detected by the pressure sensor in the grip control system and used to control the lifting movement. This eliminates the need for the operator to press any buttons to control the hoist.

The integrated load sensor detects the weight of the load and possible weight fluctuations, thereby determining the required direction and speed of movement based on these values ​​in the load control mode. This allows the operator to use both hands to move the load to the desired location. In the assembly mode, it is especially suitable for horizontally connecting components, which can avoid any possible uncontrolled load movement, thereby simplifying the precision assembly process.​​. It also avoids potential damage caused by collisions between components, thereby increasing productivity.

DCBS cranes also include a load picking mode, which is very useful for functions such as changing tools or removing parts from fixtures or test benches. The balancer can be adjusted so that it only rises when a predetermined force is reached. This allows the load handling attachment to be lifted and pre-tensioned, allowing the load to be removed from the fixture without falling or being suddenly pulled up. At the same time, the machine or fixture is protected from excessive force. 

The design features provided by DCBS can simplify its operations, improve security, and reduce service requirements. This includes a slipping clutch with an automatic cut-off function based on speed monitoring, which prevents permanent slippage under overload conditions. Since the brake is arranged in front of the slip clutch in the load-bearing device, it prevents any load from falling by automatically applying the brake in the event of a failure. All operating modes are associated with additional protection functions, including adjustable load or speed limits to improve workplace safety. The gearbox, slip clutch and brake are maintenance-free for up to 10 years. DCBS safety-related functions meet performance level C and category 2 of EN ISO 13849-1 as the minimum requirements. 

The DCBS model is particularly suitable for use with the Demag KBK light crane system to create an integrated solution for mobility and horizontal load transportation. The hoist can travel on KBK profile rails, single beam suspension cranes or system suspension monorail and jib cranes.
