A modern waste processing plant in Spain ordered cranes and cranes from fellow manufacturer Jaso.

Spanish crane manufacturer Jaso has supplied 9 cranes to the Gipuzkoa Environmental Complex in Zubieta in northern Spain.

The complex includes a mechanical biological treatment (MBT) plant, an energy recovery plant, a biomethane plant and a slag processing plant. It will process 135,000 tons of garbage every year.

For the MBT plant, environmental management company Urbaser chose Jaso to provide nine cranes, one trolley and two cranes. The equipment will assist in the recovery of recyclable materials still present in the remainder, including paper, cardboard, plastic packaging, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

In the pretreatment stage, Jaso installed two double-beam cranes with a load capacity of 12.5t and a span of 9.5m, working in series. Both cranes are located above the pit where the truck unloads waste and are responsible for loading and unloading materials.

After sorting, the crane moves the material back to the hopper to start the biological treatment process.

In the next phase, Jaso provided a double-beam crane with a lifting capacity of 8t and a span of 13m. The crane uses a forklift to handle the slag from incineration.

Other equipment provided for maintenance includes: 3.2t single beam crane with a span of 5m; 5t single beam crane with a span of 34m; 2 20t double beam cranes with a span of 15m; 25t double beam crane with a span of 18m; 2t wall-mounted rotary crane One jib crane with a span of 7m; one 2 ton double beam trolley; one 5t electric trolley hoist; and a 2 ton low headroom crane.
